Friday Night in the Hammer: Casino

Last night was art crawl and even though I had to work it I stole away to go see Ashley's show at Casino (176 Mary St).

When you walk in they have a giant shark above the stairs!

Portrait of the artist casually smoking a giant paper cigarette.

Casino is an art space that has work space, events, ect ect.

I really liked the turkey... Everyone was dancing all night when I left but they ran out of beer so I went to The Brain (a bar). I wish I got more pictures but a lot of the pictures I was taking weren't turning out! Def heading to Casino for their next show!

Doors Open Hamilton

So I was sitting in store today and a customer walked in and reminded me it was doors open. I was so upset that I'd miss it since its one of my fave things to do and it only happens once a year. Some historical buildings open their doors for free to anyone that wants to wander in. And there are A LOT of great buildings in Hamilton. Shilo said she'd watch the store as I wandered but I only had 2 hours! So I did a quick loop and got some shots but most places only let you take photo's of the outside.

My first stop was 158 Mary Street off Cannon East. I love the outside of the building! I think its being used as a hostel or 'guest house'. The inside was a little 'meh' but they have a great spiral staircase to the rooms and at the top theres a sky light!

The view from 158 Mary has 2 buildings across Cannon that I also really liiiike.

I tried to find the Ferguson pump station but I couldn't find it, so I'll post some pics from the aimless walk around until I gave up.

Whitehern on 41 Jackson Street is my favorite building in Hamilton. I went in last year as well. GO FOR A TOUR!! And ask for the whooooooole story. It's like Downton Abbey status drama with the original owners of this place. Everything inside is from the original owners as well. Also every Wednesday in the summer they have a concert at noon. I'll be there 4 shoooo' I love everything about this place.

St Paul's at 70 James Street South. Last year they let me play a song on the bells!! And guess what? I suck at it!

Last was the Workers Arts and Heritage centre. Which is set up as a museum as well! So many paintings of children slave workers... I wish I got to see more of the buildings before I ran out of time.. Open doors runs tomorrow as well but I don't think I can make it out to anything else this weekend which breaks my heeeeaaart! Next year Hamilton!

Pizza Partie Part 2: Bueno Vita

This week I ordered in from Bueno Vita on Queen Street North. This pizza place came with a few recommendations of it being a great place. Alright so: Before I get started though here is how I'm reviewing: on a scale from 1-5 I'll judge the sauce, cheese, crust, and over all wow factor with bonus points for garlic sauce. Which ever pizza place scores the highest, wins.

Sauce : 2 - The sauce was good but again there wasn't enough! Barely any actually.

Cheese : 3 - Good cheeeeese

Wow Factor : 2 - They don't skimp on the toppings but which was good but the pizza was generally bland.

Crust : 3 - I actually liked the taste of the crust. But it was limp. Limp ass crust man.

Dipping Sauce *Bonus* : 1 - It wasn't house made. Just general garlic sauce.

11/20

Over all I'd say not bad but just... 'meh'. I wouldn't go out of my way to order from them again.

North Beach Provincial Park

I have been busy working like crazy these past 2 weeks so I thought I'd add a photo set. This set is from my adventures with Steph and our frolic in North Beach Provincial Park January 2015. We were trying some more portrait shots. Enjoy our faces on a beach with sand and water and stuff!

I had to add this last one because it looks like Steph and I are about to drop our first shitty indie break up song album and this is the album cover:

Happy Sunday everyone! Back to Hamilton post's this week.
