Doors Open Hamilton

So I was sitting in store today and a customer walked in and reminded me it was doors open. I was so upset that I'd miss it since its one of my fave things to do and it only happens once a year. Some historical buildings open their doors for free to anyone that wants to wander in. And there are A LOT of great buildings in Hamilton. Shilo said she'd watch the store as I wandered but I only had 2 hours! So I did a quick loop and got some shots but most places only let you take photo's of the outside.

My first stop was 158 Mary Street off Cannon East. I love the outside of the building! I think its being used as a hostel or 'guest house'. The inside was a little 'meh' but they have a great spiral staircase to the rooms and at the top theres a sky light!

The view from 158 Mary has 2 buildings across Cannon that I also really liiiike.

I tried to find the Ferguson pump station but I couldn't find it, so I'll post some pics from the aimless walk around until I gave up.

Whitehern on 41 Jackson Street is my favorite building in Hamilton. I went in last year as well. GO FOR A TOUR!! And ask for the whooooooole story. It's like Downton Abbey status drama with the original owners of this place. Everything inside is from the original owners as well. Also every Wednesday in the summer they have a concert at noon. I'll be there 4 shoooo' I love everything about this place.

St Paul's at 70 James Street South. Last year they let me play a song on the bells!! And guess what? I suck at it!

Last was the Workers Arts and Heritage centre. Which is set up as a museum as well! So many paintings of children slave workers... I wish I got to see more of the buildings before I ran out of time.. Open doors runs tomorrow as well but I don't think I can make it out to anything else this weekend which breaks my heeeeaaart! Next year Hamilton!
